Well, if you've been following the weather tearing through the south today, you'll know that Arkansas is in the crosshairs for a pretty significant winter storm. Looks like mostly freezing rain :( Thankfully, my school district already has canceled school for tomorrow so at least my students will not have to brave a very cold and icy ride to school.
If my two year old and three year will allow it, I do plan to spend some of this time working on some discussion guides and mentor text units on several Andrew Clements books. My students and I love his novels!
Anyway, there's a very real possibility that we'll lose power so if there is a not a new blog post in a couple of days that's probably (unfortunately) the reason. And if you are going to be threatened by this winter storm, stay safe everyone!

My most popular Christmas-themed TPT lesson so far...
The numbers do not lie -- its my Rudolph-themed reader's theater:
I've had tremendous success with this reader's theater over the years and my students love it! If you want to take a look at it at my TPT store, it should be on the TPT widget adorning the left side of my blog. Or you should be able to just click on the pic!
Also, I just listed for FREE several Christmas art/craft/color activities so get on over there and download them! They feature original artwork by my mom, with whom I often collaborate on my classroom activities and lesson plans (she's a retired elementary teacher and reading specialist herself so I come by my professional calling honestly ;))! Anyway, I hope you enjoy them!

Hanukkah-themed vocabulary lessons
Only a couple of more days of Hanukkah!
I've uploaded two vocabulary lessons to be used in conjunction with "Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins" and "Moishe's Miracle". I've used them in my classroom and they're great (if I do say so myself)! Here's a quick pic of the cover art (as well as the cover art for a similar vocab lesson for "Silver Packages"):

Welcome to Generation Genius!
Hello! Welcome to my new teaching blog!
I've started this blog/website to feature some of my lessons and other fun activities I've posted at my Teachers Pay Teachers store. First, though, here's some information about me...
I have taught children in several public schools in an urban area for the past fourteen years. This includes Kindergarten, and second, third, and fourth grade. As for my teaching style, I enjoy creating integrated units, bringing in my literacy and math instruction through science and social studies units. I'm nationally board certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and am ESL Endorsed. Further, I have my BA in Psychology from Hendrix College, a BA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and my MEd in Early Childhood Education, also from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
I hope you enjoy poking around on my blog and sign up as a follower. I'll be posting snippets of my newest TPT uploads, so make sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, as well as signing up as a follower to this blog!
